My Writing (Stuff I'm not trying to sell.)
Rudolph the Red Not the version of the Rudolph tale you're used to. If you'd prefer to avoid nostalgiacide, skip this one. If, like me, you think the old Rudolph song's glorification of sycophancy, brown-nosing, and fair-weather friendship is a terrible message for kids, (It's OK to treat people like crap, and only be nice to them when they're useful to you) and you have a sense of humor, read on.
The Beautiful Princess - A more practical fairy tale than usual. Another awful message for kids corrected. Most 'Princess' fairy tales are about how a woman should sit around and wait for a perfect man to come and take care of them. Nonsense. Kids should be taught that women can take care of themselves, thank you very much, and also that while having standards is good, expecting too much is unrealistic. Fairy tales were originally meant to be cautionary, not reinforce negative stereotypes, or instill a sense of entitlement, or teach kids that they are not responsible for handling their own problems in life.
